Board Approves Two Policies: Community Planning and Partnership and Pupil Accommodation Review of Schools
At its Regular Meeting of the Board held on October 27, 2015, the Board of Trustees approved its Community Planning and Partnership (#704) and Pupil Accommodation Review of Schools (#713) policies which ultimately support student achievement and well-being and aligns with the Boardís Mission, Vision and Strategic Commitments. We thank the many stakeholders who provided invaluable feedback on these policies.
Over time school communities grow and decline. As a school board, York Catholic needs to ensure that it is prepared to address these changes while continuing to offer the high standard of program excellence in innovative learning environments that our students deserve and our parents expect.
In keeping with the Boardís Strategic Commitments to Continuous Improvement of Student Achievement and Effective Use of Our Resources under our Multi-Year Strategic Plan (2014-2018) along with the Ministry of Educationís expectation of school boards to address surplus capacity, the Board approved a five-year, Long Term Accommodation Plan (2015-2020) on March 24, 2015.
The Long Term Accommodation Plan (LTAP) addresses current and future pupil accommodation needs board-wide and includes a number of accommodation initiatives which range from opening new schools, pupil accommodation and boundary reviews, program considerations, temporary accommodations and facility partnerships. Each initiative is guided by a process that includes communication with school communities.
