Student Access to School Protocol

Dear Parents and Guardians:

We have been given permission by the York Catholic District School Board and York Region Public Health to provide temporary access to students for the removal of personal belongings from their lockers and to return items that are school property (i.e textbooks, library books, musical instruments).

You and your child will receive an email indicating a date and a 15 minute time slot for access to the school property. Please ensure that your child respects the date and time that is assigned to them as we have strict protocols around how many students are allowed into the building at one time. Please remind your child to arrive on time.  They must line up 6 feet apart at the indicated markings outside the school area.

Due to parking lot construction, students must ENTER through the south rear doors (old portapak entrance near the community centre) where they will be asked to check in and follow directions, passing  through checkpoints.  Students will EXIT through the cafeteria doors where they will be able to leave their textbooks in the subject specific boxes.

Students will have a maximum of 15 minutes to complete this circuit to empty out their locker and return school textbooks and equipment.  They will be required to keep 6 feet of physical distance between themselves and others. They are NOT to remain inside the school or outside school property once they have exited the school.  Students are to return home immediately after exiting the school building.  These protocols have all been put in place and approved by York Region Public Health in order to maintain the health, safety and well-being of our staff and students during the COVID-19 school closures.

If you require the return of an Epi-Pen from our school main office, please email Adriana.Staley@ycdsb.ca and we will arrange to have the epi pen picked up on a later date via curbside drop off.

Please note that access is prohibited to anyone who is exhibiting symptoms of COVID-19 or who has cared for someone with confirmed COVID-19 or COVID-19 symptoms.

Students are strongly encouraged to arrive wearing a mask and must bring:

  • a NEW, UNUSED garbage bag for the collection of items from their locker (no other bags will be permitted in/none will be distributed)
  • Any textbooks, library books and musical instruments

If students are returning textbooks from home, please ensure that they are labeled with their name using tape on the cover.  Do not return any electronic equipment or SEA claims at this time.

Please note that there will be no opportunity for students to change their scheduled entry time.  If students do not show up, locker contents will be emptied into a bag for pickup at a later date.  Students will NOT be permitted to enter any classrooms.  In addition, parents are not permitted to enter the school with the student.

Thank you for your cooperation and support.

Sincerely,

Sandra Abate, Principal
