In accordance with the Ministry of Education’s new Regulation 304, “School Year Calendar, Professional Activity Days,” the York Catholic District School Board (YCDSB) is providing the following summary of P.A. Day activities at the secondary level on Monday, May 5, 2025.
9-12 Mathematics + Subject-specific topics
Secondary teachers will participate in self-directed modules on topics such as: Mathematics & Science: University of Toronto presents Bridging Achievement Gaps between Secondary & Post-Secondary Education; AI: Considerations for Teacher Implementation; Literacy: Strategies to Promote Effective Classroom Conversations; Culturally Relevant & Responsive Pedagogy & Assessment; Differentiated Instruction in Academically Diverse Classrooms; Growing Language & Literacy: Strategies for Secondary Multilingual Learners; Indigenous Education: Inclusive Learning & Curriculum Connections; Religious Education: Integrating Catholicity: Visio Divina; and FSL: The CEFR & The Action-Oriented Approach
Bullying and School Safety
Staff will be completing online modules which cover Bullying, Human Rights and Online Incident Reporting Tool. The bullying and human rights module will provide school staff with a better understanding of bullying behaviour, their obligations to help prevent bullying, as well as an understanding of the Ontario Human Rights Code Protective Grounds. The online reporting tool will cover steps on how to report incidents of workplace violence. These training modules will support and monitor the health and safety of all our students and staff.
Staff will also be part of a session on cybersecurity and online privacy awareness.
