Vaughan City Hall to Feature YCDSB Artwork for Earth Hour

Vaughan City Hall to Feature YCDSB Artwork for Earth Hour

Congratulations to the 14 Functional Life Students (FLS) from Father Bressani Catholic High School whose artwork will be featured at Vaughan City Hall to recognize Earth Hour.

These students won a banner design contest launched by the City of Vaughan that encouraged students to share their vision for the future of the Earth. The banner will be displayed in the Vaughan City Hall atrium to enhance the city’s Earth Hour celebrations.

Father Bressani’s banner concept originated in a Grade 11/12 Learning Strategies class. Special thanks to Elijah, Carlie, Julian and Nicolas, who brainstormed creative EARTH concepts. Their ideas were further developed by the Functional Life Skills class, which used the acronym EARTH to highlight key environmental actions:

Ecology

Awareness

Resilience

Transformation

Humanity

The project continued to evolve, with ideas blossoming through collaboration. Two incredible artists—Grade 12 student Marisa Augelio and teacher Ms. Fillippelli—brought the vision to life, blending their talents with the unique contributions of countless students.

Thank you to City of Vaughan liaison Gina Ciampa and Father Bressani Special Education teacher Ms. Stanevicius, who provided excellent leadership throughout this process.

Congratulations again to everyone who made this win possible.
